Creteway Close

This is myself, Alan Read, at the back of the truck, and sitting on the truck is my next-door neighbour, David Sainsbury. This is in the early sixties, and this is the way we used to amuse ourselves. Creteway Close is where I grew up - my mother actually still lives in the same house, as does David’s mother (she lives next door). My mum lives in No19, and David’s mum lives in No20. The truck itself was self-made; we used to scour the hills looking for old prams, and, er… not like today, when the young children sit indoors, playing on their computers. This is the way we amused ourselves, and spent many a happy hour on this truck.
